Tech + Education

These Tech Trends Will Change The Way We Learn

Technology and education go hand in hand. It’s the best combination to improve our society and develop innovative ideas. Instead of making us lazier or unproductive, technology is the best way to level up our skills. Many tech trends, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, or IoT are having a positive impact on students’ education.

Now, some trends come and go, but others might be permanently transforming the education industry. Today, we will discuss some of those innovative technologies that are changing the way we learn.

Diverse Career Backgrounds

Due to the rapid development of technology, we’ve experienced drastic changes in the work environment. Many jobs have been disrupted by machines or software, and if we take a look at the future of work, we’ll notice that this trend isn’t going to stop here.

Today many technologies are threatening some professions. For example, in the near future, drivers might be substituted by autonomous cars, human translators might be a thing of the past, and the customer service team might be reduced to just a couple of employees.

Now, what this means is that students need to become life-long learners. There’s a fascinating report from Dell Technologies that states, “85% of jobs in 2030 haven’t been invented yet”. This study is as alarming as it looks; we’re talking about less than 10 years ahead of us.

This directly impacts the education industry. Teachers must put the emphasis on training their students to develop soft skills like resilience or logical thinking. This way, they’ll be able to succeed in the future regardless of the career they choose.

Besides, students might have to diversify their skills to have a place in the future of work. Some of the most in-demand jobs of the future are part of the tech industry.

AI-Driven Bots

Imagine all the hours that teachers could save if they didn’t have to evaluate or provide immediate feedback to their students. This time could be spent on more indispensable tasks like developing innovative educative strategies.

Artificial intelligence bots can provide this type of outcome. With these bots, students can have quick feedback from their assignments, which will help them move forward without waiting for the teacher to respond.

Besides, these bots could also remind students about the activities they should do during the day. Students could set up alarms and reminders for their studying hours.

Video Use

According to this report from Visual Capitalists, 98% of educators believe that interactive videos will be a significant tool in education. These interactive videos (IV) are clips with clickable areas where students can interact with the content and explore different segments.

This provides a more interactive experience for the student, which means that the lesson might be more engaging and remarkable for them.  These types of videos will play a massive role in the future of learning.

The Internet Revolution

Today, we could dare say that most part of the global population has Internet access. According to Our World in Data, 3.4 billion users are connected to the Internet these days. This has made it possible for everybody to continue studying despite the pandemic. Remote learning has a huge role in today’s education system.

However, not everybody has Internet access. Although most of the population does, there are still some countries that struggle with this. In the future, this might decrease, meaning that more people will be able to study remotely.

Yet, it’s important to mention that this doesn’t mean that in-person education is over. We will still have in-classroom classes, but it might be a mix of online and physical education.

Conclusion

Technology’s impact on education is more favorable than we may think. In the past, people used to believe that technology would only decrease students’ cognitive performance. However, today we know that technology is actually beneficial for our educational system. It provides us with the right tools to develop our skills.

In the upcoming years, we may see more tech trends in the education industry. Some of these trends include interactive videos, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and even VR. Thanks to technology, our education industry might become more personalized and efficient.
